Tequila’s smoky cousin… Jk Jk, fuck that reference— we all know what mezcal is by now, right? And if you don’t, Mezcal Week is the time to learn about it. Shine up your vasos veladores, pull out your clay copitas, make people feel inadequate with your jicara gourd cup the size of soup bowl, because very soon bars and restaurants around the world will be offering flights, cocktail specials, mezcal-paired dinners, and more to celebrate Mezcal Week put on by the Mezcalistas (and a little help from your truly). For up to date info on events go here. And if you’re in the industry consider hosting an event.
On Sunday, November 13th, there’s a culminating tasting event at PublicWorksSF called Mexico in a Bottle, where people will have a chance to listen in on informal mezcal chats and tastings, savor more than 100 kinds of mezcal, and enjoy bites and cocktail sips from some of our favorite local restaurants and bars including ABV, Loló, Cala, Ichi Sushi, Mosto, Beretta and more. Tickets are a steal at $65. I’m the production manager for that one, so looking forward to seeing you there.
